Sometimes God calls us to make a difference in simple ways.
Last week, members of Westminster United Methodist Church took the first step in a new community ministry by adopting the Blessing Box located at Fairfield. When we opened the box, it held only a sweater, some packages of crackers, and a jar of peanut butter….a reminder that there are neighbors in our community who rely on these small acts of generosity.
Wanting to make sure the box was ready to serve those in need, Clara Jo Hill joined Blair Hamilton and her sons, Cl
ayton and Samuel, to purchase and stock it with food, snacks, drinks, hygiene items, and a few small encouragements. The boys, our church’s “tiny disciples,” eagerly helped organize and fill the shelves, learning firsthand what it means to love their neighbors through service.
This is just the beginning.
Westminster has committed to adopting this Blessing Box and restocking it each month so that it remains a reliable resource for anyone who may need a helping hand.
Beginning in July, a collection box will be placed outside the church sanctuary where members and friends of the church can donate nonperishable food items and personal hygiene products. Every donation, no matter how small, will help ensure the Blessing Box stays stocked for those who need it most.
Together, we can be the hands and feet of Christ in our community. Thank you to everyone who supports this ministry through your prayers, donations, and willingness to serve. May this Blessing Box be a reminder that God’s love is shared one act of kindness at a time.
