At Westminster United Methodist Church, the Table of Holy Communion is at the heart of our worship. On Sunday, October 5, we will begin once again, Extending the Table — carrying the bread and cup from our worship into the homes and care settings of those who are unable to join us physically in the sanctuary.
In the Wesleyan tradition, Holy Communion is a means of grace — a way God meets us in real presence through bread and cup. It is more than remembrance; it is an encounter with the living Christ who nourishes us, forgives us, and strengthens us to live as his disciples.
Our Connecting with Existing People Team is identifying those who will receive communion. Delivery Teams will be trained on Sunday, September 28, following worship, preparing them for this ministry of presence, prayer, and sacrament.
On Sunday, October 5, following worship, these teams will carry consecrated elements along with scripture, prayer, and words of thanksgiving, extending the grace and presence of Christ’s table into homes and care communities.
