Some stories stay with us for a lifetime.
We first heard them as children—often simplified, softened, and wrapped in bright colors. But as we grow, so do our questions. And Scripture, when read honestly and patiently, has a remarkable way of growing with us.
This winter, Westminster invites you into Bible Stories for Grown Ups, a Bible study rooted in thoughtful conversation, faithful curiosity, and a deep respect for the complexity of Scripture and life itself.
Using Bible Stories for Grown Ups: Reading Scripture with New Eyes by Josh Scott, we will return to familiar biblical stories and engage them from an adult perspective—one shaped by experience, questions, hope, and trust.
Stories We’ll Explore Together
Over the course of this winter study, we will spend time with:
The Flood
The binding of Isaac
Jonah and the Fish
The Parable of the Talents
Zacchaeus
Jesus and the Blind Man
These are not children’s lessons revisited, but living texts explored honestly—stories that wrestle with faith, fear, justice, grace, risk, and transformation.

Why This Study?
This is a study for people who love Scripture—or want to love it more deeply. It is for those who carry faith alongside real life. It is for those who know that maturing faith is not about having fewer questions, but about learning how to live faithfully with them.
This winter journey will also prepare us for the season of Lent, as we transition next into a congregational study of The Sermon on the Mount, beginning Ash Wednesday, February 18.
An Invitation
Come as you are.Bring your questions.Bring your story.
Let’s read the Bible—with new eyes—and allow God to shape a faith that continues to grow.
