Ash Wednesday with Westminster

Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of Lent—a season that invites us into reflection, repentance, and renewal. It is a holy pause at the threshold of the journey toward the Cross, a moment to remember who we are and whose we are.

On Wednesday, February 18, Westminster invites you to gather for a simple meal and sacred worship as we enter this season together.

Dinner & Worship

We will share dinner at 5:30 PM, followed by Ash Wednesday worship.

The meal is free, with food lovingly and provided by our friends through Written With Love and the Sprouting Roots Project—ministries grounded in hospitality, care, and connection. While reservations are requested to help us plan well, all are welcome to worship.

To reserve dinner, you may register online or call the church office at 252‑522‑3334.

The Mark of Christ

During worship, we will receive the ancient sign of ashes—the mark of Christ traced upon our foreheads. This simple act reminds us of our humanity, our need for grace, and God’s steadfast mercy. Ash Wednesday does not rush us forward; it gently grounds us in truth and invites us to begin again.

From this quiet beginning, we will journey through Lent together, walking with Jesus through the words of the Sermon on the Mount—learning again what it means to live a cross‑shaped life marked by love, mercy, humility, and faithfulness. This path leads us, step by step, toward the Cross of Christ.

Whether Lent is familiar or new to you—whether you arrive with certainty, questions, weariness, or hope—you are welcome here. Come share a table. Come receive the ashes.

Come begin the journey.

We look forward to gathering with you on Ash Wednesday.
