Friends,
Our Westminster family is beautifully blessed with families that live with various forms and severity of cognitive-related health issues – dementia, Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s. Caring for these families is different from those living with acute or other chronic conditions.
Kathy McAbee and I invite you to a series of exciting conversations and learning in partnership with the NCCUMC Center for Leadership Excellence. Over three weeks in October, we will learn from a new “Dementia Resourcing” series that includes sharing from a caregiving spouse, a pastoral practitioner, and a family respite coordinator. Following their sharing, we will discuss ways Westminster can help our families and community as we walk alongside those who can offer hope through our hands and hearts.
The three sharing events will be on Tuesdays, October 1, 8, and 15. We will create them as lunch-and-learn opportunities, as the webinars each begin at 1 p.m. Lunch will be provided to those who reserve a space. Please come at 12:45 to get situated and ready for the presentations. Reservations can be made through the Church Office.
You’ll hear more about this opportunity during worship in September and in our online publications. Please talk with Kathy or Dennis about your interest as we continue to design this up-and-coming ministry opportunity. Please read the NCCUMC site for additional learning information: https://nccumc.org/leadership/2024/07/announcing-our-dementia-resourcing-series/
In Christ’s Service
Pastor Dennis
